Our surveying team recently carried out a comprehensive asbestos refurbishment survey at a college in Redbridge, East London, ahead of a planned programme of refurbishment works. The project involved several teaching areas, staff facilities, corridors, plant rooms and associated service areas that were due to undergo alterations. All samples were securely labelled before being transported to a UKAS-accredited laboratory for analysis using polarised light microscopy.

High-quality annotated photographs, marked floor plans and practical recommendations were included to assist the client in planning the safe removal or management of asbestos before refurbishment commenced.
Where asbestos-containing materials requiring removal were identified, the report provided clear guidance on the appropriate remedial action before contractors began work. This information allows project managers, principal contractors and licensed asbestos removal companies to plan the refurbishment safely while remaining fully compliant with current UK asbestos legislation.
